Report: Celtics to sign Chris Babb for remainder of season

After floating back and forth between the NBA and the D-League throughout the season, Chris Babb will reportedly finish off his 2013-14 campaign with the Boston Celtics.

Babb, who completed his second 10-day contract with the Celtics on Thursday, signed with the franchise in September but was waived before the season got underway. He had since been playing with the Maine Red Claws of the D-League, averaging 12.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

A product of Iowa State, Babb has gone four games without playing as a result of Avery Bradley returning from injury. But in the six contests he's played over the span of his two 10-day contracts, Babb is averaging 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds over 11.5 minutes, while providing the Celtics with a solid defensive presence at the perimeter.

The "future team options" reportedly include the ability for the Celtics to hold onto Babb beyond this season.
