San Antonio Spurs clinch 17th straight playoff berth
The San Antonio Spurs are the model NBA franchise.
Thanks to their 99-90 win over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, their 13th win in a row, longest in the Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan era, they became the first team in the Western Conference to clinch a playoff spot.
It's San Antonio's 17th straight season qualifying for the postseason. They've made the playoffs every year since Popovich became the full-time coach in 1997-1998. He took the job in 1996-1997, after Bob Hill was fired after the team got off to a 3-15 start.
The last time the Spurs lost: Feb. 21 in Phoenix. It's been over a month. They've won 16 of 17, and are an NBA-best 53-16. They continue to quietly get it done, and in dominating fashion. Their +7.6 point differential is also tops in the Association.
