Andres Nocioni could potentially make an NBA comeback
Former NBA swingman Andres Nocioni, who spent the past two seasons playing in Europe, is thinking about a potential return to the NBA.
In an interview with K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, the 34-year old Argentinian opened up about his decision to leave the NBA in the first place.
Europe is a great, great place to play basketball. I came back here because I sat on the bench a lot in Philly and that was frustrating for me because all my life I have played.
He went on to add that in this juncture of his career, he "doesn't need to play as many minutes" because he is "too old."
He played the bulk of his career in Chicago, where he served as a diligent wing defender with the ability to drive and shoot from distance. At his advanced age, it's unclear if he can replicate his former skills, but he does possess good size at 6-foot-7, 225 pounds, which coupled with his ability to shoot, should endear him to squads who currently lack depth on the wing.
In parts of eight seasons in the NBA, Nocioni averaged 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He won an Olympic gold medal in 2004 as a member of the Argentine national team.
