Jermaine O'Neal on the fence about retiring
Golden State Warriors center Jermaine O'Neal entered the 2013-14 season with the intention of making it his last in the league, as he planned to retire after his 18th season in the NBA.
Things, however, have changed since the start of the season.
"If I'm watching the playoffs from home and it doesn't eat at me that I'm not playing, I'll know I'm done," O'Neal told the San Francisco Chronicle.
O'Neal suffered a hyperextended right knee on a collision with Glen Davis in Game 6 against the Los Angeles Clippers, and was then limited to just three minutes in Game 7.
"It's been a fantastic run," O'Neal said. "You never picture your last game being one where you can't be effective in a Game 7. That's a tough pill to swallow."
O'Neal averaged 6.0 points and 3.4 rebounds in the series after posting averages of 7.9 points and 5.5 rebounds during the regular season.
