Nuggets' Hickson thinks he'll be back from torn ACL when training camp opens
Denver Nuggets forward J.J. Hickson is two months into his recovery from surgery to repair a torn ACL, and his sight is set on a timely return.
According to Nuggets.com, Hickson countered an earlier report from CSNNW that claimed he wouldn't be back until January.
“That’s false,” he said. “I’m looking to be ready for training camp. If not, definitely before the season starts.”
Hickson is following a detailed recovery plan from the team's athletic training staff, and is currently able to shoot free throws. He's aiming to run on an anti-gravity treadmill within the next few weeks.
“I’m taking my time with it so when I come back, I don’t have to go back,” Hickson said. “Everybody’s body’s different. The guys upstairs recognize that. They do a great job of creating our workouts and doing what’s best for the player.”
The 25-year-old averaged 11.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in 69 games before tearing the ligament in his right knee on March 21.
