Report: Knicks' Anthony has until June 23 to make contract decision
The New York Knicks have reportedly set a deadline for Carmelo Anthony.
Anthony has until June 23 to notify the Knicks if he plans to exercise or opt out of next year's player option, reports ESPN's Marc Stein, as team president Phil Jackson continues to try and convince the seven-time All-Star to remain in the Big Apple.
Stein notes that the Knicks, who are trying to sway Anthony with the promise of cap flexibility in 2015, will receive competition from the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks for their star's services.
Anthony is set to earn $23.3 million next season if he chooses to remain with the team, delaying unrestricted free agency for one more season.
