Metta World Peace to be assistant coach for girls high school team

Daniel Shirey / USA Today Sports

He may not be retired from the NBA, but Metta World Peace is already beginning to build a coaching resume.

This coming fall, World Peace will be patrolling the sidelines as an assistant coach...for the Palisades High girls basketball team. Head coach Torino Johnson confirmed the news that his friend will join the staff and still handle any NBA duties, should a team sign him:

We still have to go through the paperwork process, but Metta will be a member of our 2015 coaching staff. I do a lot of work with NBA guys and I've gotten to know him. We've been talking about it for years and when I mentioned how crazy it would be for him to coach at Pali his exact words were 'Give me a title!'

World Peace's daughter Sadie player for the junior varsity team as a freshman, though it wasn't immediately clear if she's a lock for the varsity squad now.
