Marc Gasol on future with Grizzlies: 'I don't see myself anywhere else'
While Pau Gasol is a highly discussed commodity on the free-agent market, his younger brother Marc is hoping to stay where he is when his current contract expires at the end of next season.
“I’ve always said Memphis is my home away from home,” Gasol told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. “Robert (Pera, Grizzlies owner) knows that. I know that. My teammates know that and that’s all that matters. I live day to day but I don’t see myself anywhere else.”
Gasol has spent his entire six-year career in Memphis and is coming off a season in which he averaged 14.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 59 games.
Despite missing 23 games last season, the 29-year-old enters next season in the prime of his career and has already developed into one of the best centers in the league.
