The Orlando Magic have added some shooting depth in the backcourt by adding free agent guard Ben Gordon on a two-year, $9 million deal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, the second year of the deal is a team option.
The new deal is far less lucrative than the last deal he signed in free agency, a five-year, $55 million pact with the Detroit Pistons.
After wearing out his welcome in Detroit, Gordon was moved to Charlotte. He played in 75 games for the then-Bobcats in 2012-13, averaging 11.2 points in 20.8 minutes.
He didn't see the court nearly as much in 2013-14. A frequent subject in trade discussions, Gordon played in only 19 games, averaging 5.2 points on 34.3 percent shooting.
Gordon will fill a need in the Magic backcourt in the absence of Jameer Nelson, given his ability to knock down the three-ball. Gordon is a career 40.2 percent shooter from beyond the arc.
