The Dallas Mavericks will host free agent Jameer Nelson on Thursday, and the team is reportedly "on track" to land the free agent.
According to ESPN's Marc Stein, barring any unforeseen (Rashard Lewis-style) snags, Nelson could fortify the Mavs' backcourt on a deal with their $2.7 million room exception.
Interestingly enough, the confidence in signing Nelson surfaced after point guard Raymond Felton pleaded guilty in a New York gun case. The new Maverick took a plea deal that spares him jail time, and owner Mark Cuban told ESPN that he won't be dumped for his prior transgressions.
"We like him and think he will have a great year," Cuban told Tim MacMahon on Wednesday afternoon.
