Report: John Wall added to USA Basketball camp ahead of FIBA World Cup
The most glaring omission from the USA Basketball training camp roster has been rectified.
The absence of John Wall from the 19-player list had been more or less inexplicable, especially considering some of the names on the roster that were given the nod ahead of him.
Considering Wall had previously been miffed by being left off an even more preliminary roster of 28, this stood to be a major motivational tool for Wall for the coming season. Instead, he'll now compete with Kyrie Irving, Bradley Beal, DeMar DeRozan, Damian Lillard, and Klay Thompson for the reserve guard positions, while looking to prove he can play the two in international competition (spoiler: he can).
Camp is set to begin Monday in Las Vegas, and the roster will then be whittled down to 12 for the FIBA World Cup that begins in Barcelona, Spain on Aug. 30.
