George landed awkwardly after chasing down James Harden for a block in the fourth quarter during a Team U.S.A. scrimmage. It took more than 10 minutes for medics to stretcher him off the court, and many of the players were visibly shaken after the incident. They did not speak to the media after the game, and coach Mike Krzyzewski did not discuss the nature of George's injury in a post-scrimmage news conference.
It is a little early to guess how long his recovery will take, but estimates range from six months to a year - and it is never clear how mobile the player will be right away.
The Pacers said earlier on Friday night that they would make a statement on Saturday.
