Report: Van Gundy plans to add Quentin Richardson to Pistons staff in player development role
As team president and head coach Stan Van Gundy continues to mold his new Detroit Pistons outfit in his image, he reportedly plans to make a minor personnel hire in the form of recently-retired shooting guard Quentin Richardson.

Richardson played for Van Gundy in Orlando for two seasons, from 2010 to 2012, and last played in the NBA with the New York Knicks (though he appeared in just one game) during the 2012-13 season.
Van Gundy has long had a three-ball fetish and shoring up the Pistons' lack of outside shooting was said to be one of his chief offseason priorities. So adding Richardson - a long-range specialist who shot nearly half of his career field goals from beyond the arc (and led the league in both attempts and makes in 2004-05) - to his staff makes sense.
In 12 NBA seasons with five teams, Richardson averaged 10.3 points and 4.7 rebounds, while shooting 35.5 percent from deep.
Van Gundy is reportedly looking to round out his staff with other former players, including Malik Allen (who played for Van Gundy in parts of three seasons with Miami and Orlando), and five-time All-Star Tim Hardaway.
