John Wall on whether he was given a fair shot from Team USA: 'Nah, I don't think so'
He just said what everyone was thinking.
In the wake of being cut from Team USA last week, Washington Wizards point guard John Wall opened up about his feelings about the program.
When asked if the program gave him a fair shot, Wall responded, "Nah I don't think so, but it's part of the game." He went on to add that he was "happy for the opportunity" and wished them luck.
"I’ve been (around) for four years in a row. I think that’s enough time," Wall said. "Everybody had the same fair amount of time as far as being (in Las Vegas) and playing. I think [Team USA] already had kind of in their mind what they wanted to do and what decisions they were going (to make).
Wall was initially left off the 28-man invite list for Team USA training camp, much to the dismay of many. He was eventually added later on, but was cut in the first round of dismissals.
Given the fierce competition at point guard - that being Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, Derrick Rose and Stephen Curry - there's no grand crime in Wall's omission. However, it is surprising to see him leave camp so soon, especially given his performance in a breakout season for the Wizards last season. Wall averaged 19.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game.
