VIDEO: Stephen Curry says he's a better offensive player than LeBron James
Confidence is a strength. So, too, is self-awareness.
Stephen Curry thinks he's a better offensive player than LeBron James. That statement features all sorts of confidence, and a glaring lack of self-awareness.
Here's what Curry had to say on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday:
Better offensive player, me or LeBron? That's the first time I've ever been asked that question. Me. Gotta be, right?
...
He obviously demands a lot of attention on the floor but I like to say I can distribute, get my teammates involved and be a playmaker as well.
You can view the entire interview below. It's worth a listen, as he discusses Paul George's injury, the aforementioned James question, Klay Thompson-for-Kevin Love and more. Skip ahead to the four-minute mark for the James part, though.
Curry also named Nate Robinson as the running back on his NBA-player-built football team, despite Robinson being a Division I cornerback (for what it's worth, Robinson thinks he'd be one of the best corners in the NFL). Maybe Curry was having a rough morning or something.
In any case, a quick glance at the stats shows that Curry is a better shooter than James, but the rest of the offensive numbers really don't compare:
Curry | 2013-14 | James |
---|---|---|
23.7 | Pts/36 | 25.9 |
8.4 | Ast/36 | 6.1 |
47.1% | FG% | 56.7% |
42.4% | 3FG% | 37.9% |
6.1 | FTA/36 | 7.3 |
88.5% | FT% | 75.0% |
24.1 | PER | 29.3 |
61.0% | TS% | 64.9% |
9.3 | Off WinShare | 12.3 |
6.62 (2nd) | Off RPM | 8.65 (1st) |
Sorry, Steph. We love you, but you're crazy for that one.
