Anthony Davis leads USA to 101-71 victory over Slovenia in exhibition play
The United States' men's national basketball team easily dispatched Slovenia 101-71 in an exhibition game in Gran Canaria, Spain on Tuesday.
Anthony Davis led the way for the United States, as the 21-year-old blossoming superstar posted game-highs in points (18), rebounds (11), steals (four) and blocks (four). In all, six Americans scored in double-digits, while Zoran (not Goran) Dragic led the way for Slovenia with 16 points.
As expected, Kyrie Irving started in place of Derrick Rose and managed to outperform his counterpart. The two point guards are expected to split starting duties.
The Americans relied on their frenetic defensive schemes to generate turnovers and score in transition. Slovenia committed 20 turnovers, four of which were attributed to point guard Goran Dragic. He also struggled to score, netting just six points on 3-of-10 shooting.
