Report: Rajon Rondo 'wants out' of Boston
"I wouldn't mind staying here the rest of my career."
Those were the words of Rajon Rondo back in January, when he was discussing the possibility of a contract extension with the Boston Celtics.
However, that may no longer be the case if we can believe the words of ESPN's Jackie MacMullan, who firmly asserted that Rondo "wants out" of Boston while speaking on "Around the Horn" earlier this week.
"It will happen because he's told them he wants out," said MacMullan of Rondo being traded. "And no one believes me, but that's the truth. And I don't see how you get 80 cents on the dollar for him. Tell me where. People keep saying the [New York] Knicks. Yeah, well, who are they going to give you?"
Rondo, who is reportedly interested in testing the waters of free agency next summer, has been connected to a number of franchises as he gets set to enter the final year of his contract in which he'll earn just under $13 million. Teams that have reportedly expressed interest in the 28-year-old point guard include the Knicks, the Sacramento Kings and the Houston Rockets.
MacMullan also goes on to state that Rondo has already told the Kings: "I will never re-sign with you."
