USPS website says Wilt Chamberlain stamp is coming in December
It appears the oft-rumored Wilt Chamberlain stamp is close to being released by the United States Parcel Service (USPS). It's something that has been gathering support for the past few years and, if the USPS website is correct, Chamberlain will soon be the first NBA player to appear on a stamp.
As pointed out by a user on Reddit, the USPS "events calendar" lists "Wilt Chamberlain (49¢ Forever)" for a Dec. 5 first-day-of-issue ceremony at 7:30 p.m. in Philadelphia. Further, two weeks ago the USPS stamp services director Susan McGowan spoke openly about an upcoming Chamberlain stamp.
It's all coming together, and all that's left to ponder is what image they may use. The most iconic picture of Chamberlain is from his 100-point game with Philadelphia in 1962, and that would seem to be the most likely option.
