Dion Waiters: Report of skipping anthem due to religion is 'BS'
Dion Waiters will have to come up with a new excuse.
After a report emerged Friday that quoted Waiters saying he skipped Wednesday's national anthem in Utah because of his Muslim faith, the Cavaliers guard took to Twitter on Saturday morning to clear the air.
Lol I wasn't going to even say anything about the situation but whoever made that up about me & the national anthem is a damn lie....

Waiters, who was on the court for the singing of the national anthem when the Cavs took on the Nuggets in Denver on Friday, also tweeted: "I can't believe yall believe everything yall hear smh I guess ppl listen to anything now a days!!! I love everything about America!!!!!!!."
Athletes shoot down rumors and reports about themselves all the time, but what makes this situation cloudier than usual is that the original report from Northeast Ohio Media Group's Chris Hayes contained quotes from Waiters himself.
It seems far fetched to believe a reporter completely made up a quote and thought he would get away with it. Either Waiters is naive enough to think fans will believe his denial, or he was being sarcastic from the beginning and was potentially disgruntled with his move to the bench before Wednesday's game.
Hayes followed up on Twitter, himself, after Waiters' tweets.
Dion, why did you miss the national anthem on Wednesday: "It's because of my religion. That's why I stayed in the locker room."

Post game last night. Why Dion: "I don't want to talk about that, my religion."
