J.R. Smith likely to start for Knicks
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
With Carmelo Anthony on the shelf, it appears the New York Knicks will turn to sixth man J.R. Smith to start at small forward against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.
Knicks coach Derek Fisher told media Wednesday morning that is the direction he was leaning in, with Anthony out for the rest of the Knicks' road trip.
Smith is averaging 10 points and 3.4 assists per game this season, coming off the New York bench in all but two contests.
