LeBron James has apparently ditched the chalk toss

Perhaps wary of wounding the Cleveland faithful as he once did, LeBron James has been doing a lot of careful crowdsourcing since officially rejoining the Cleveland Cavaliers this past summer.

He asked fans what number he should wear. The fans demanded No. 23 and so he's wearing No. 23. He let the masses decide how he should conduct his pregame ritual. The masses cried for chalk and so he's been tossing chalk.

Until recently.

According to Joe Vardon of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, LeBron has become his own boss again, with no regard for the 95 percent of human life that petitioned for the the return of his powdery pregame ceremony:

LeBron James now shoots with teammates about an hour before the game and he has apparently stopped doing the chalk toss.

Both items - the pregame shooting and non-chalk tossing - are part of a slew of changes James made last week. They worked.

Not only did the Cavaliers win all three games, but James averaged 25.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 2.3 steals.

So for those keeping track, James is 5-7 this season when tossing chalk, and 3-0 when tossing up jumpers with teammates instead.

Maybe somewhere down the road he'll turn back to the polls and put the power in the hands of the people once again. But if James is a superstitious man, we might be entering a new, chalkless era, with no foreseeable end.

Prepare accordingly.
