VIDEO: Elfrid Payton airballs back-to-back free throws
Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports
As unapologetic Elfrid Payton supporters, we really hate to have to show you this.
The Orlando Magic's rookie went to the line in the first quarter of Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers for a pair of free throws. Payton is a 49 percent free-throw shooter in a small sample this season and shot 61.1 percent from the line over three college seasons.
This should have been fine.
It was not fine. Payton airballed the first, which is pretty embarrassing but not the end of the world, even for a rookie. And then he airballed the second.
There's no coming back from that.
Poor rookie, it's gonna be tough to live that one down with teammates.
