Report: Mavericks 'confident' they'll keep Rondo

The Dallas Mavericks do not view the acquisition of point guard Rajon Rondo as a rental, and a high-ranking team source says the team is confident that he will re-sign with them next summer, according to a report by ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
The Mavericks now own Rondo's Bird Rights, allowing them to exceed the salary cap to keep him. That helps the Mavs in their efforts to re-sign center Tyson Chandler, who they also have Bird Rights on.
Rondo, who is 28, would unquestionably get a max contract on the market.
