Raptors' Fields injured in scary collision

There was a scary moment during Friday's game between the Raptors and Pistons in Detroit, as Toronto forward Landry Fields took a hard fall during the third quarter after colliding with Pistons forward Kyle Singler.

Fields closed out hard on Singler, then flipped into the air before landing on what appeared to be his shoulder and head. He was left bloodied by the fall, but was able to gingerly walk off the court with the assistance of medical personnel, while a crowd of mostly Raptors fans chanted Landry's name in support.

The Raptors have turned to Fields as an interim replacement in the starting lineup with DeMar DeRozan sidelined. Fields has chipped in with 3.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game, while playing exemplary perimeter defense. 

An update provided by Raptors Media Relations revealed that Fields will not return and that he is receiving stitches for the cut on his head.

UPDATE: Fields passes concussion protocol

Fields received eight stitches on the back of his head for the cut, but managed to pass the concussion protocol, the Raptors announced.

Following the game, Fields took to Twitter to express his appreciation for the fans' support.
