Rockets add Brewer, Shved in 3-team deal

The Houston Rockets made their acquisitions of Corey Brewer and Alexey Shved official Friday night.

In a three-team deal involving the Rockets, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston shipped out guard Troy Daniels and a pair of second-round picks to bolster its bench with two versatile swingmen.

Minnesota received two second-rounders and Daniels from Houston in exchange for Brewer. The Timberwolves also sent injured center Ronny Turiaf to the Sixers, along with a second-round pick. 

Philadelphia relayed Shved to the Rockets. 

To make room for the deal, Houston waived forward Franciso Garcia.

The gambit for Minnesota and Philadelphia is simple - the two rebuilding squads dealt away productive veterans for coveted draft picks. For Houston, adding Brewer and Shved affords the team with added depth in the backcourt.
