In a move expected for days, the Philadelphia 76ers officially waived center Ronny Turiaf on Tuesday. Turiaf came to the Sixers from the Minnesota Timberwolves in the three-way deal that saw Timberwolves guard Corey Brewer land with the Rockets.
Turiaf, a nine-year NBA veteran, was expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing hip surgery. The move makes room for the 76ers' signing of forward Malcolm Thomas, which was made official Tuesday evening.
