Cavaliers' Varejao to miss rest of season with torn Achilles tendon

Cleveland Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao was diagnosed with a torn Achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the season, the team confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
Varejao was carried off the court Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves after landing awkwardly on his foot.
Injuries are nothing new for Varejao, who failed to play more than 65 games in any of his last five seasons. However, despite Varejao's inconsistent health, the Cavaliers inked their longtime center to a three-year, $30-million extension this offseason.
Varejao averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds this season.
