DeMarcus Cousins returns from illness Saturday
Things just keep getting worse for the New York Knicks.
After word came out that Amar'e Stoudemire will miss games through the weekend, it looked like his Knicks teammates may finally catch a break and avoid DeMarcus Cousins when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Saturday. That's just not their luck this season, as the behemoth center is feeling better after a bout with gastroenteritis.
After being called probable earlier in the day, Cousins is now officially a go.
Cousins was far luckier with illness this time around, missing just a single game after missing 10 earlier in the season due to viral meningitis. It's a good thing for the Kings, too, because they completely fall apart whenever Cousins hits the bench, injured, sick or otherwise.
Kings | O-Rtg | D-Rtg | Net |
---|---|---|---|
with Cousins | 109.9 | 98.7 | 11.2 |
without Cousins | 99.5 | 110.4 | -10.9 |
Alas, the lowly Knicks - they're dying, really - have to deal with Cousins, who is averaging 23.9 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks. Those numbers over an entire season would put him in rare company (see the post below for more). They're also likely to be even more robust on Saturday, as Cousins dropped a 32-15-8-2-2 last time he faced the Knicks, back in March.
