Jazz's Hood out at least a week with heel injury
Rodney Hood received a prime opportunity to prove his worth once shooting guard Alec Burks was lost for the year due to a season-ending shoulder injury. But the Utah Jazz rookie has also landed on the shelf.
The Jazz announced Friday that Hood will be sidelined for at least one week with a left heel injury.
An MRI test on Hood's left foot revealed inflammation. Hood, who was out for Friday's game versus the Atlanta Hawks, will be placed in a walking boot while he recovers from the injury.
The 22-year-old was given the first crack at Burks' starting job, receiving three consecutive starts before the heel discomfort forced him to miss Friday's game. Hood averaged 5.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists over that stretch.
Fellow rookie Patrick Christopher was slotted in as the Jazz's starting shooting guard Friday.
