Knicks waive Samuel Dalembert

Samuel Dalembert was not included in Monday's three-team trade between New York, Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder, but the veteran center has been waived by the Knicks.
Only $1.8 million of the $3.8 million on Dalembert's contract this season is guaranteed, but the Knicks would have been on the hook for the full amount as of Jan. 10. By waiving Dalembert in time for him to clear waivers before Saturday, the team saved itself $2 million.
Dalembert averaged 4.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 17 minutes per game with the Knicks. The 33-year-old is a virtual non-factor on the offensive end and isn't the shot-blocker he once was, but he can still provide some rim protection in small doses for any contender looking for one.
