Ankle sprain may keep Celtics' Olynyk out until All-Star break
The Boston Celtics may have accumulated a decade's worth of draft picks and trade exceptions this season, but in the here and now, they're struggling to keep their heads above water.
That could get a little bit more difficult, as second-year center Kelly Olynyk, who's been one of the Celtics' most reliable offensive contributors this season, could be out until the All-Star break with a right ankle sprain, according to head coach Brad Stevens.
Olynyk, who suffered the injury in Thursday night's win over the Portland Trail Blazers, has been sent back to Boston for further tests while the Celtics continue a six-game road trip.
For the season, the 7-foot Toronto native is averaging 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds in 24.5 minutes per game, while shooting 50.6 percent from the floor and 35.3 percent from deep.
