Andrew Bogut a late scratch due to illness
The Golden State Warriors made a late switch to their starting lineup without much explanation on Tuesday.
After listing Andrew Bogut as their starting center, as per their usual configuration, they reversed course 21 minutes later, naming Marreese Speights their starting pivot. Bogut was spotted heading to the locker room shortly before tip-off, with the team later announcing that Bogut was sidelined with flu-like symptoms.
He will not play.
The Warriors hung tough through Bogut absences earlier in the season but could use him against a deep Chicago Bulls frontcourt. Bogut entered play Tuesday averaging 6.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and two blocks, with the Warriors playing 13.7 points per-100 possessions better with the Aussie on the floor.
Speights has proven a solid fill-in, averaging 12.4 points and five rebounds in 41 games while shooting 51.6 percent from the floor. He can't provide the defensive safety net that Bogut does as the team's last line of defense, the area Golden State may feel Bogut's absence most against Pau Gasol and company.
