Knicks sign Amundson for rest of the season; Time to update Twitter bio

When the New York Knicks cleared a handful of roster spots by trading away two players and waiving another last month, the expectation was that they'd use those spots to cycle through young players.

While they haven't quite cycled, they have unearthed Langston Galloway and Lance Thomas, the former of whom has been signed to a deal through 2015-16 and the latter of whom is expected to sign for the rest of the season on Saturday.

They also used one of those spots to give 32-year-old journeyman Lou Amundson a pair of 10-day contracts. It seemed odd to give a known commodity a three-week tryout that could have gone to a young player, but the Knicks liked what they saw, announcing Friday that Amundson has been signed for the remainder of the season.

It's a somewhat curious use of the roster spot, but it's a nice addition to Amundson's story. Now in his ninth NBA season, Amundson has played for 10 teams, only once lasting with a team for more than 60 games. He won't reach that mark with New York, but even playing the remainder of the season would make the Knicks Amundson's fourth-longest stop.

That may even be enough to get Amundson to update his Twitter biography, which highlights his journeyman status.

In seven games with the Knicks, Amundson is averaging 6.4 points, six rebounds and two assists in 22.9 minutes, an amount of playing time that would be far more than he's ever received, were it to continue.
