Ricky Rubio's return was a big highlight reel
The Minnesota Timberwolves didn't win in Ricky Rubio's return to action after three months off due to a sprained left ankle. But everyone watching did.
Rubio played 21 minutes in his first game since Nov. 7, working on a minutes limit but not looking at all slowed by the injury. Rubio scored 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting, grabbed three rebounds and dished four assists, each of them prettier than the last.
It was a ton of fun. Let's re-live it.
There was this mid-second quarter, head-fake, no-look pass to Andrew Wiggins that wasn't an assist, but got Wiggins two free throws and loudly announced Rubio's return...
There was this unbelievable one-handed bounce pass between multiple defenders to send Thad Young to the line ...
There was this obscene one-handed dish to Young ...
And there was the capper, the one all Wolves fans have been dreaming on, this alley-oop pass to Wiggins:
They may have lost 100-94 to the Dallas Mavericks, and they may be 8-40, but the Wolves have been a lot of fun to watch this year. They're going to be a must-see on League Pass from here on out if Rubio's performance Monday is any indication.
