Nets assistant coach after suffering heart attack at practice: 'I was gone'
A couple of weeks after Mirza Teletovic was shut down with blood clots in his lungs, the Brooklyn Nets got another life-threatening scare.
Nets assistant coach and advance scout Jim Sann suffered a mild hear attack and went into cardiac arrest during practice on Sunday.
"I was on my way out. I was gone," Sann told Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
Sann was rescued by team trainer Tim Walsh and the Nets' training staff with the help of a defibrillator and performing CPR.
Walsh and Dr. Michael Farber were also key factors in convincing Teletovic to undergo a CT scan after complaining of chest pains, according to ESPN's Mike Mazzeo. The scan found the clots in Teletovic's lungs, which could have proved deadly had he boarded a team plane.
Sann now wants to caution others not to ignore potential signs of trouble.
"I had warning signs for weeks that this was going to happen, and I was stupid about it," he said. "And my two kids were almost orphans because of that."
"Please tell people: Be smarter than I was," Sann added.
