76ers sign Tim Frazier to 10-day contract

Up comes Frazier!

The Philadelphia 76ers have signed Tim Frazier out of the D-League, the team announced Thursday.

It's a tough pill to swallow for Larry Drew II, who has been impressive over two 10-day contracts. Drew, who was given an A+ from head coach Brett Brown for his play during the last three weeks, will not be re-signed by the club.

With teams only able to give a player two 10-day contracts, the 76ers would have had to sign Drew for the remainder of the season in order to keep him, a flexibility-limiting move they apparently weren't comfortable with. The UNC and UCLA product should catch on somewhere, having averaged 3.8 points and 3.8 assists over 12 games.

Frazier, a guard out of Penn State, should get ample playing time to stake his claim for an NBA future.

Undrafted this summer, Frazier played with the Sixers in summer league and the Boston Celtics in the preseason before heading to Maine of the D-League. In 27 D-League games, he averaged 15.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 8.9 assists and two steals, while shooting 45.1 percent from the floor.

He can't shoot from outside, something Philly could really use, but he's second in the league in assists and has a strong assist-to-turnover ratio.
