Love says he sees no scenario where he would be a Laker
Kevin Love had his best game as a Cleveland Cavalier in a 120-105 stomping of the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, so, naturally, he was asked about becoming a Laker.
Players generally don't open up about potential free agency destinations in the middle of the season, especially following games they've just won.
While most expect the Santa Monica-born UCLA product – and son of onetime Laker Stan Love – to at least consider the flush-with-cap-room purple and gold as a potential destination this summer should he choose to opt out of his deal, it's difficult to take seriously a one-sentence postgame comment on the matter in February.
However, maybe there is something to it.
Love had what was by far his best game with Cleveland on Sunday, scoring a season-high 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting (including a ridiculous 7-of-8 from three) and pulling down 10 rebounds. The 26-year-old has been candid about his struggles this season as critics cast doubt as to whether his volume game fits with what the Cavs require.
In January, Love said he doesn't plan on opting out of his deal this summer. To date, he has said all the right things about being in Cleveland. And that's probably what happened on Sunday, too.
