Deron Williams playing through illness Monday
There's little a good nap can't cure.
Deron Williams missed shootaround on Monday due to an illness and his status for Monday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks was unclear. Seven hours later, Williams showed up to the arena looking no worse for the wear.
And so the Brooklyn Nets will have their expensive backup point guard at the ready as they try to steal a win in former coach Jason Kidd's new house. Williams hasn't exactly been himself this season, continuing a multiyear decline from All-Star status, but he remains a productive offensive piece and the Nets play 7.3 points per-100 possessions better with him on the floor.
In 36 games, Williams is averaging 13.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 6.2 assists, barely staying above league average with a 16.1 PER. That production is solid enough if his exorbitant contract can be ignored, which it more or less has to be considering it's a sunk cost at this point.
Jarrett Jack remains the team's starter for the time being, averaging 12.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and five assists with a slightly below-average 14.4 PER.
