Bradley Beal ruled out for Wednesday as toe injury lingers
The Washington Wizards have to be hoping that two weeks off is enough to heal a nagging sore toe.
Bradley Beal will miss his third consecutive game on Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors, as the shooting guard continues to deal with soreness in his right big toe. With the All-Star Break coming up and the team off until Feb. 20, Beal will have had two full weeks of rest since his last appearance, a brief outing on Feb. 5.
It's been a tough road for Beal when it comes to injuries in his three-year career. He'll now have appeared in 171 of a possible 218 games as a pro, having dealt with wrist, ankle, leg and now toe injuries.
With the time off, Beal will seek a second opinion on the inflamed digit.
When he's played this season, he's been somewhat disappointing. Despite a torrid 43.6 percent mark from outside, Beal's scoring is down to 15 points and his PER is a below-average 13.8. He adds an important element of spacing to the Wizards' lineup and the team is 3.4 points per-100 possessions better with him on the floor overall, but he hasn't taken the leap forward that was anticipated after a strong sophomore campaign.
Still just 21, there's ample time for Beal to grow his offensive game beyond that of a deadly spot-up shooter.
Garrett Temple got the most recent start in Beal's stead and could get the nod on Wednesday. Otto Porter has also spotted in for Beal and could draw Wednesday's start if the Wizards want to throw some length at DeMar DeRozan.
