Report: Warriors now NBA's most expensive home ticket

Jason Getz / USA TODAY Sports

Success, it seems, doesn't come without a cost.

As thrilling and rewarding as it surely is to be a Golden State Warriors fan right now, it is, regrettably, not cheap. With a league-best 41-9 record and the top odds of winning the NBA title, the Warriors have seen ticket prices on the secondary market explode.

After a 121 percent month-over-month increase, a seat at Oracle Arena now costs more on average than at any other venue in the NBA, Jesse Lawrence of Forbes reports.

The average ticket to a Warriors home game is currently going for $327 a pop, more than doubling January's average of $148. That's nearly 27 percent more expensive than the next-highest average ticket - the $258 it costs to take in a Cleveland Cavaliers game at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Atlanta Hawks have also seen their stunning success translate to admission prices, as their average ticket has increased 48 percent from last month to a robust $162, good for ninth in the NBA.

The Hawks and Warriors, whose Feb. 6 clash drew unprecedented TV ratings, will meet for the last time this regular season at Oracle on March 18. The current average price for that game (approximately $450) is the most expensive remaining home game for Golden State.
