Daniel Orton wasn't a special NBA player by any means, averaging 2.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10 minutes per game over parts of three seasons with the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers.
But the former first-round draft pick is used to a better brand of basketball than the one he's playing in the Philippines.
Orton currently plays for the Purefoods Star Hotshots of the Philippine Basketball Association, and had some choice words about the league - and its biggest name - after fouling out of a recent game.
"This game is seriously a joke. The way the game was going, the refs took the game that I know and love and they made it into a mockery," Orton said, as reported by Inquirer.net.
As for the fact that Manny Pacquiao is a player-coach in the league?
"That’s the joke. That’s part of the joke I was talking about. Professional boxer, yeah, OK. Congressman, alright. Professional basketball player, no," Orton added. "It’s a joke. Seriously, it’s a joke."
Pacquiao, who made his debut for Kia Motors Basketball in October, was selected 11th in the 2014 PBA rookie draft after announcing his intention to be a player-coach.
For what it's worth, as hilarious as Pacquiao's connection to the league seems, Orton hasn't exactly been a model of professionalism during his stint in Asia.
