Former NBA player Anthony Mason is recovering from multiple surgeries after a heart attack, and his son says his condition is improving, according to Brandon Marcello from al.com.
Antoine Mason, a senior guard at Auburn, said his father remains in a New York hospital in critical condition, unable to speak.
"They're telling me he's getting better," he added.
Mason, 48, was a fan favorite with the New York Knicks from 1991-1996 and also played for the New Jersey Nets, Denver Nuggets, Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks during his 13-year NBA career, averaging 10.9 points and 8.3 rebounds. He was an All-Star with the Heat in 2001.
Antoine scored a season-high 29 points in Saturday's loss to No. 1 Kentucky.
