5 craziest stat lines in honor of Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game
Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain holds plenty of records, including the most prodigious of all.
It was 53 years ago today - on March 2, 1952 - that Chamberlain became the first and only player in NBA history to score 100 points in a contest. While the game has evolved in the decades that have followed Chamberlain's historic night, no one has even flirted with joining him in the century club.
The closest any player has come is Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant, who shot 28-of-46 from the field to drop 81 on the Toronto Raptors in January 2006.
In memory of Chamberlain's otherworldly performance, here are the five craziest stat lines of the last 30 years:
5. Derek Fisher, Los Angeles Lakers, November 4, 2009 (34 minutes, 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists)
Notable: Fisher accomplished an unbelievably dubious feat with the empty stat line. It's the most minutes any player has logged with zero points, assists and rebounds in a single game.
4. Hakeem Olajuwon, Houston Rockets, March 10, 1987 (38 points, 17 rebounds, 12 blocks, 7 steals, 6 assists)
Notable: The Dream is the only player in NBA history to record 10 blocks and five assists in a triple-double.
3. David Robinson, San Antonio Spurs, February 17, 1994 (34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 blocks)
Notable: Robinson was the last player to record a quadruple-double with his ridiculous 34-10-10-10 effort.
2. Shaquille O'Neal, Los Angeles Lakers, March 6, 2000 (61 points, 23 rebounds)
Notable: The Big Aristotle was the most dominant player of his era during his prime, proving as much when he became the first player in NBA history with a 60-point, 20-rebound game.
1. Larry Bird, Boston Celtics, March 15, 1992 (49 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists)
Notable: Bird's legendary game marks the most points ever scored in a triple-double. And, to cap it off, it came during his age-35 season.
