LeBron on Kyrie's 57-point record: 'I've got 15 other franchise records'
There's a special sense of security that comes with two championship rings and four MVP awards.
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James was asked Saturday about Kyrie Irving's franchise-record-setting 57-point explosion against the San Antonio Spurs.
James responded with a clever quip.
James was undoubtedly joking, meaning only to take a small jab at Irving, who's enjoying the best season of his young career. On Friday, James showered Irving with praise, saying, "The kid is special."
But James does make a great point: he does hold almost every relevant Cavaliers franchise record.
Across 11 seasons in Cleveland, James holds the all-time record for minutes played, field goals, assists, free throws, steals, points, minutes per game and points per game.
The same goes for James and playoff records. He holds the record for most career playoff points, points per game, field goals made and so forth.
But there is still one milestone James has yet to attain as Cavalier: a championship. If he's going succeed in that endeavor, James will have to lean on Irving and the remainder of his teammates to continue playing at top form.
