Steph Curry says he'd vote for himself or LeBron James for MVP
NBA players don't get to fill out MVP ballots, but Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, a frontrunner for this season's honor, thinks they ought to have a say.
"I think we should have a portion of the vote," Curry said Tuesday on the Dan Patrick Show. "Obviously we're the ones playing against each other, we know who's having the best year and who's doing things that really stand out, so I think that should be a part of the vote, for sure."
Patrick then asked if Curry - were he to get a ballot - would vote for himself.
"Yes," Curry said, after a pause.
And if he couldn't vote for himself, or teammate Klay Thompson?
"This year, I'd probably vote for LeBron," Curry said.
"I don’t know, I don’t follow it that closely, I thought he was up there," he added, after Patrick mentioned that James hasn't been getting the same kind of buzz as Curry, James Harden or Russell Westbrook. "He's obviously one of the most talented guys on the face of the planet."
Curry also tipped his cap in the direction of Anthony Davis, saying he'd want Davis's future over anyone else's.
"He's doing stuff before the age of 22 that's unreal."
