DeMarcus Cousins visiting foot specialist
The Sacramento Kings had been kicking around the idea of sitting DeMarcus Cousins down for the season to get him additional rest.
They waited a bit too long, and now Cousins can't kick around much of anything.
The All-Star center missed his second consecutive game on Wednesday due to a sore right foot, an issue that first popped up Tuesday. Not only did Cousins miss the games, he left the team to travel to Los Angeles to see a foot specialist, a meeting that was expected to happen Wednesday.
It's unclear when Cousins first hurt his foot, as he looked as good as ever in the three games prior to his absence, posting a triple-double in two of them. The 24-year-old was spotted limping Tuesday, which wasn't all that worrisome considering he's openly admitted he's been slowed by several nagging injuries, but the need to see a specialist may be cause for concern.
In the 59 games he's been healthy, Cousins has been a terror, averaging 24.1 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.8 blocks while playing the best defense of his career. If this is the end of his season, he'd be the first player since Kevin Garnett in 2003-04 to average 24-12.5-3.5-1.5-1.5 and just the fourth different player to do so since blocks were first recorded.
