Allen out, Conley and Gasol questionable for Grizzlies on Wednesday
In a game weighty with potential playoff implications for both teams, the Memphis Grizzlies will be without Tony Allen when they host the Indiana Pacers in the regular season finale on Wednesday.
Allen, dealing with a pesky hamstring injury, will miss his ninth consecutive game. The Grizzlies are 4-4 during his absence and 8-10 without him overall (they're 46-17 with him), and they've performed 12 points per 100 possessions better when he's on the floor. It's safe to say they'll need him healthy if they hope to make any noise in the postseason.
Meanwhile, center Marc Gasol and point guard Mike Conley are both questionable for the game, Gasol due to an ankle sprain and Conley a foot sprain. Again, those guys will kind of come in handy in the playoffs. The Grizzlies have been healthy for the majority of the season, but they're getting banged up at the worst possible time.
That's great news for the Pacers, who will punch their ticket to the postseason with a win on Wednesday. With the Brooklyn Nets - the team chasing them - playing the Orlando Magic that night, it's likely that losing to the Grizzlies will mean the end of the Pacers' season.
A loss for the Grizzlies will mean settling for the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference, which likely means a first-round meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers.
There's a good chance they'll end up there even if they win, but they could hope that at least one of the Houston Rockets or San Antonio Spurs loses and instead locks them into a matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers, who are in even worse shape injury-wise than the Grizzlies.
