Pelicans' Evans has bone bruise, questionable for Game 2
An MRI on the left knee of New Orleans Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans indicates a bone bruise, and he is listed as questionable for Game 2 Monday against the Golden State Warriors.
"Game-time decision," Evans told reporters Sunday, while Pelicans coach Monty Williams says his combo guard is day-to-day.
Evans left Game 1 Saturday after bumping into the Warriors' Andre Iguodala. After the game, Evans sounded ominous, saying he felt a pop in his knee.
"I never felt nothing like that before," he said.
Evans missed time during the season with an ankle injury, and played heavy minutes at point guard down the stretch with Jrue Holiday hurt. He averaged 17.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists in 32 minutes per game over the Pelicans' last 12 regular-season contests. He only played 12 minutes Saturday, scoring one point.
Holiday and Norris Cole spelled Evans after the injury, combining for 11 assists, but the catalyst for the Pelicans' comeback to make the game competitive was Anthony Davis's big fourth quarter after shifting to center.
