Lou Williams on possibly re-signing in Toronto: 'I look forward to being here'
With a Sixth Man of the Year trophy in hand, all Lou Williams is missing is a contract from the Toronto Raptors.
Williams spoke to Sam Amick of USA Today on Monday and reiterated his interest in re-signing in Toronto.
"I'm very confident that this is where I'm going to be for a number of years in the future," Williams said. "So hopefully it works out there. I'm a creature of habit, a product of my environment. And once I'm somewhere I like to be comfortable there. And this team, this city and this organization has embraced me as one of their own and I look forward to being here."
The 28-year-old Williams landed in Toronto by way of a trade from the Atlanta Hawks last summer. Williams fetched nothing more than the non-guaranteed deal of swingman John Salmons.
But Williams has since rehabbed his value with a stellar campaign.
Williams bounced back from a pair of injury-riddled seasons to post a career highs in points per game (15.5) while serving as a premier bench scorer role for the Raptors this season. Along with Patrick Patterson and Greivis Vasquez, Williams has helped to form the backbone of a strong bench in Toronto.
Williams signed a three-year deal worth $15.7 in total three seasons ago. He is undoubtedly in line for an extension.
