Kyle Lowry sustains shin injury, will be re-evaluated Wednesday
As if things weren't bad enough for the Toronto Raptors.
Getting hammered by the Washington Wizards in an ugly Game 2 showing on Tuesday, point guard Kyle Lowry came up limping and favoring his left leg after getting kicked in the ankle by Paul Pierce in the fourth quarter.
Lowry limped to the locker room and returned to the bench shortly after but looked uncomfortable in doing so and never returned to the game. With the Raptors making a mini-comeback that ultimately fell short, there was little sense in having him play through pain for the game's final minutes.
He finished the contest with six points, two rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes, shooting 3-of-10 from the floor.
The Raptors provided an update on Lowry's condition after the loss. Lowry has a left shin contusion and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.
If Lowry is injured, the Raptors could be in serious trouble. They trail 0-2 in the series heading back to D.C., and playing without their All-Star would more or less seal their fate. Lowry hasn't been particularly good in the series so far, struggling on both ends, but there remains a chance that if he plays, he'll be a major positive. If he sits, the chances of that are zero.
Should Lowry miss Game 3, Greivis Vasquez would stand to start and Lou Williams would see increased ball-handling duties. Considering John Wall has regularly embarrassed each in this series, you can probably write the ending to Friday's game if that's the case.
